JULY 15 & 16

Passport to History Month is a celebration of the places, stories, and community that bring local history to life. 35+ historic sites in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding counties invite you to step back in time with free admission, activities, and programs for visitors of all ages.

Durham Historical Society

Tour the 1820s gristmill.

Forks Township Historical Society

Visit the Revolutionary War era springhouse and view township photos, artifacts, and memorabilia.

George Taylor House

Tour the 18th-century mansion of Founding Father George Taylor, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Governor Wolf Historical Society

Visit the Wolf Academy site which includes two 18th-century buildings, a 19th-century schoolhouse, and colonial period garden. Enjoy hearth cooking, demonstrations, a newly-designed museum, and Make-It-‘n’-Take-It crafts.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association

Learn about the history of The Iron Borough and its early Welsh, German, and Scots-Irish residents. Visit the museum, gallery, summer kitchen, and D&L Trail and canal, and enjoy refreshments in the garden.

Horner’s Cemetery (by appointment)

Horner’s is celebrating the 295th anniversary of the founding of Craig’s Scotch-Irish settlement – the oldest, longest, permanent settlement in the Lehigh Valley. Schedule a tour of the cemetery and hear fascinating stories of days gone by.

Jacobsburg Historical Society

Tour the 1832 J. Joseph Henry House, the Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum, and Nicholas Hawk Gun Shop. Bring chairs and blankets, and enjoy a full day of music in the gardens of the Henry Homestead, featuring Dave Fry and the Nightbirds Callin’ Band with Dennis Schuller.

Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm

Enjoy the 60th Anniversary Celebration, Music in the Valley event featuring folk instruments and traditional music of the 19th century. The event will be held under tents, rain or shine. The day ends with a jam session around 3:30 p.m.

Slate Belt Heritage Center

View refreshed exhibits that feature local communities from the early Lenape to 21st-century people that worked in the slate, textile, and garment industries. Enjoy special exhibition, Centuries of Service: A Salute to Slate Belt Service Clubs, Dutch oven cooking, and self-guided walking tours.

Upper Milford Historical Society

Explore the archives and artifacts, view the new Honor Wall celebrating local war veterans, and have the opportunity to talk to our historian and other members.

Whitehall Historical Preservation Society

Tour the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill and Peter Grim House, and discover the history and stories of Whitehall Township.

Williams Township Historical Society

Visitors will learn a new segment of Williams Township’s history in a carefully laid out historical driving tour that will take them to the township’s cemeteries, both past and present. Volunteers will provide maps, historical data on each site, and the early settlers who made that history.
