History of American Flag Making – Sewing Circle at the Daniel Boone Homestead
Saturday, July 1, 2023 • 10:00am
The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to announce the start of their Monthly Sewing
Circles on the first Saturday of every month. Each month will feature a different topic. Did you ever wonder
who made the first American Flag, or how many stars and stripes were on it? Join us at the Homestead to
learn this and other facts about American Flag making. The group will meet at the Visitor Center at 10:00am.
Please bring along a project of your choice (knitting, cross-stitch, quilting, etc.)
There is no fee to participate in the sewing circle or to tour the Visitor Center. Guided Boone House
tours incur the following admission fees: Adults $10.00, Seniors (65+) $8.00, Youth (6-17) $5.00. Children 5
and under and DBHA members are free. Please no pets and no smoking. Please contact us at
thedanielboonehomestead@gmail.com or 610-582-4900 with any questions. The program is sponsored and
run by The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates.
The Daniel Boone Homestead is the birthplace of the famed frontiersman, born in 1734. The
Boone House, constructed in three stages throughout the eighteenth century, is a 10-room stone structure
fully furnished to the period and situated on 579 acres of rolling countryside. The Daniel Boone
Homestead is located halfway between Reading and Pottstown, one mile north of Rt. 422 near
Baumstown. The Homestead is owned by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, and
daily historic operations are run by the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates, a local, nonprofit
organization. If you would like more information or would like to make a donation, please contact the
Daniel Boone Homestead at 610-582-4900.
