Announcing the Jubilation Ringers’ annual spring concert: “This Is Dedicated . . . “

Our 2024 spring concert, “This Is Dedicated . . .”, comprises performance pieces that have been specifically written for, dedicated to, or composed in memory of some special person, group of people, or organization. The music varies between rousing, percussive pieces (Jubilate, Bauder) and those that are gentle with haunting melodies (Appassionata, Joy). Some are arrangements of well-known hymns (Meditation on Beautiful Savior, arr. Moklebust) or folk songs (Annie Laurie, arr. Allured); others are original compositions. Also in this concert we are especially excited to premiere Will Gross’s “The Heavens Are Ringing,” composed in memory of our founding director, Phyllis Treby Hentz, who sadly passed away in January 2022.

The Jubilation Ringers handbell choir rings 7 octaves of Schulmerich handbells along with 6 octaves of Schulmerich handchimes, 3 octaves of Petit and Fritsen (Dutch) handbells, and 2 octaves of Schulmerich silver melody bells. We also sprinkle in some wind chimes, bell trees and, wait . . . is that a train whistle?? (Know what a “bell tree” is? Come to the concert and find out!)

The concert will be held on Sunday, April 28, 4:00 pm, in the beautiful sanctuary of Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, PA. No tickets are required for entry. A freewill offering will be taken as you exit, with half the proceeds being donated to Family Promise of Lehigh Valley. Family Promise is an organization that partners with the local community to assist families with children who are experiencing homelessness. Their unique program allows couples or single parents to remain with their children while being sheltered, versus being separated by gender, thereby increasing successful outcomes.
