Winter Wonderland: Enjoy the Season with NCHGS!

As we enter a season of rest and renewal, NCHGS invites you explore history with us at a slower pace. Escape for an afternoon visit to the Sigal Museum galleries, enjoy a leisurely (live or virtual) walking tour, browse the Museum Store, or take time out for crafting and creativity. Here are our suggestions for winter activities for the whole family.

ART LABS

Mark your calendars for our upcoming arts and crafts series. All ages are welcome to these drop-in style programs held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month.

GRAB ‘n’ GO KITS

Bring the museum home with one of our Grab ‘n’ Go activity kits. Each month brings a new art, craft, or writing activity.

Pick up your kit in the Sigal Museum Lobby or Discovery Room, and at the Youth Services desk at Easton Area Public Library.

DISCOVERY ROOM

Have you been to our Discovery Room? Families will enjoy a variety of hands-on crafts, games, and activities. Build a ladder-back chair, try on Colonial and Victorian style costumes, or enjoy story time and activities with Cops N’ Kids Reading Room-Easton, PA.

The Discovery Room also plays host to some very special children’s birthday parties! Contact us for details.

TAKE A STROLL

Get into the holiday spirit with a walking tour of historic downtown Easton! You’ll hear little-known facts and tales about the town’s past, while enjoying the seasonal decorations and hustle and bustle of this festive time of year.

FORGED BY FIRE: THE HEROISM, HONOR, AND HISTORY OF FIREFIGHTING

Featuring objects from the 18th century to the present, personal stories, and family-friendly interactive displays, this special exhibition takes a fresh look at the history of firefighting in Northampton County.

Learn about early Colonial era town planning in Bethlehem and Nazareth and the modern technology and equipment that save lives today. Enjoy tales of bravery and heroism, and the story of Easton’s beloved fire dog, Frank. Visit hands-on stations to try on turn-out gear, hand-drill a colonial water pipe, and experience what it takes to be a firefighter.
