    2. NOCKAMIXON STATE PARK -Invasive Species

      Home School Invasive Species

      NOCKAMIXON STATE PARK – April 25 from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm.
      Home School students in the 6th-8th grades will get a hands-on lesson about invasive species and the ecological havoc they cause the Home School Invasive Species program on April 25.  Students will learn about different types of invasive species found at the park, learn about the problems they cause our native plants and animals and participate in removing one type of invasive plant from around the Education Center. Home School Invasive Species meets at 1:30 pm at the Education Center.  This program is FREE, but pre-registration is required.  To register on-line, please go to http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/Calendar/list.asp and select Nockamixon State Park.

      What are the Things that Make for Peace?

      Building Peace in the Midst of the

                                             Palestinian/Israeli Conflict

       

      Come to a public address by Archbishop Elias Chacour, Leader of the Melkite Catholic Church of Akko, Haifa, Nazareth, and All Galilee:

      7:00  PM at Dana Auditorium, Collier Hall of Science, Moravian College

      Main and Locust Streets, Bethlehem, PA

      An Arab Palestinian Christian who is a citizen of Israel, Archbishop Chacour grew up walking the hillsides where Jesus lived, where Jesus taught “Blessed are the Peacemakers.”

      Archbishop Chacour has worked tirelessly for reconciliation and peace in the Middle East, especially by building high-quality schools—preschool through college—in the Galileean village of Ibillin, where the students and faculty include Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Druze.

      More than 50% of the students are girls.

      He is a three-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, and winner of the World Methodist Peace Award, the Niwano Peace Prize, and was Rotary’s Man of the Year in Israel in 2000.

      He has written 2 books available in English, Blood Brothers and We Belong to the Land: the Story of a Palestinian Israeli who Lives for Peace and Reconciliation.

      (Both books will be available for signing at the event, as well as a new book about Father Chacour for children titled Blessed Are the Peacemakers.)

      A free-will offering will be received to support the Peace-Building work of Archbishop Chacour.

    2. The Harmenaires – Southern Gospel – In Concert

      The Harmenaires, a Southern Gospel group, whose roots are in Zion, PA, will present a concert on April 29 at 6 p.m. at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2096 Independent Road (Route 863 S), near New Smithville.  The Harmenaires Quartet and instrumental entourage present great harmonizing as they sing and offer fun, fellowship, and testimony.  The concert is free and everyone is welcome to come and be blessed.  A free will offering will be taken.  Call 610-285-2235 for more information.

      Public is invited to Marantha Productions program on Sun., Apr. 29
      Garden Spot Village invites the public to enjoy an evening of Biblical drama when Marantha Productions presents
      Consider the Lilies on Sun., Apr. 29, starting at 7 p.m. in the community chapel at 433 S. Kinzer Ave.

      Consider the Lilies tells the story of Jesus’ ministry with inspirational
      lifestyle teachings from the Sermon on the Mount, healings and parables.
      Featuring a live cast of professional actors, the hour-long passion play
      retells the ministry of this wandering rabbi, whose life and work 2,000
      years ago changed the course of mankind¹s history. The program has a message
      of salvation.

      We are looking forward to some spontaneous audience participation, which is
      a trademark of Marantha’s performances, says Colleen Musselman, director of
      life enrichment at Garden Spot Village.  The audience experiences the
      reality of the Biblical accounts.

      The cast includes Erik Nelson, who has portrayed Jesus Christ in passion
      play productsions around the world since 2000; Corey Thomas, who plays a
      Pharisee who challenges Jesus, his message and his mission; and Leah Bowers,
      who portrays a variety of women who encounter Jesus and who are changed by
      him.

      Founded in 1969, Lancaster-based Marantha Productions is a nonprofit
      theatrical production company that dramatizes Biblical accounts and
      re-enacts true stories of faith-based lives. Marantha drama teams perform at
      churches, schools, camps, conferences and other venues throughout the United
      States and internationally.

      Marantha is an Aramaic phrase meaning, “our Lord is coming.”

      The program is open to the public. Free-will offerings accepted. For

      churches and individuals are invited to join in prayer walks beginning at
      one of four locations: 5th and Northampton Streets, the Free Bridge at
      Larry Holmes Drive, 3rd St. and Larry Holmes Drive, or 3rd St. and Bushkill
      St.  Participants will then walk to Easton’s Circle for a service of prayer
      and worship at 7pm.
