Worship Service: Independence Sunday

The “Dream Kids” will sing patriotic selections to get us in the mood for our annual reading of the Declaration of Independence. Pastor Bob Stevens will dress in colonial garb, portraying the Rev. Abraham Blumer, pastor of Zion’s church when the Liberty Bell was hidden at the church in 1777. Liberty Bell Museum staff also will be in colonial garb and ring Allentown’s ‘Liberty Bell’ 13 times during the ceremony, acknowledging the original 13 colonies. Members, friends and guests are invited to read portions of the Declaration in this signature event celebrating the birth of our nation. The public is invited.

A free will offering is received during the service. A special preview of the museum exhibit “A Jubilee Anniversary for a Jubilee Bell” will be held immediately following the church worship service.

The Liberty Bell Museum is located in historic Zion’s church at 622 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown. Parking for this event is available behind and next to the church building, as well as on street. More information is available at www.LibertyBellMuseum.org.
